KME Awarded Multiple Military Fire Apparatus Contracts

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) recently awarded KME contracts for pumpers, rescues and tankers totaling approximately $3.5 million for US air bases both domestically and around the globe.

The DLA is the Department of Defense's largest logistics combat support agency, providing worldwide logistics support in both peacetime and wartime to the military services as well as several civilian agencies and foreign countries.

The structural pumper orders were nine (9) KME custom units in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations with customized options for each delivery destination. They are built on KME custom chassis with seating for four (4) and an EMS cabinet in the cab. Other features include all LED warning lights, 1250gpm pump, class A & B foam system, 500 gallon water tank, dual 25 gallon foam tanks and 10kw generator.

The three (3) rescues are 4x4 commercial chassis with KME aluminum walkaround bodies. Features include all LED warning lights, 25kw direct drive pto generator, and light tower.

Lastly, the two (2) 4,000 gallon tankers were built on a tandem axle commercial chassis and include LED warning lights, 1250gpm single stage pump, and 10” dumps on all sides. This order is in addition to an order for eight (8) units from DLA placed in April, 2010.
